Pub-a-thon is an incentive based, collaborative, shame potential, public effort to get manuscripts complete (soon). Several of us are
working on very similar data sets and approaches and it only makes sense to help each other. Anyone is welcome. Progress will be monitored using this spreadsheet. This sheet can be viewed at the bottom of the page as well as on inset of the score card below. The sheet is edited by going to it, and an "x" should be placed in the column once that goal is reached. The score will be automatically calculated, with a lower e-value better.

To participate, a version of the paper needs to be on Google Docs. You can work in Word but Google Docs allows collaboration and comments, and comments are good. Plus people not in the building can still participate. In fact, worthy comments on others papers will improve your score.

Every week we will have a workshop focusing on a single topic. Tentatively this will occur Wednesdays at 2pm. Though we can change if this is a problem. The workshop might take a variety of forms and recorded if appropriate / possible.

More Details: The general idea is that we will avoid email and try to focus energy, progress around this page as a hub. I imagine the Discussion tab above will be useful (as will the notifications option). It is on participants set this up if they so desire. Also anyone is welcome to edit this page (that is why it is a wiki).

The spreadsheet is public. The Google Docs will not be public but rather shared of those that wish to participate.
One of the first topics will be Outlines, and these should go at the top of your Google Doc.

Personal Organization: I will have a "Collection" in Google Docs that I will share with Participants for convenience. However participants will have to identify the "official" docs to me. I believe any doc I have in this folder will be accessible to everyone I share it with. Particpants should be able to simply click the link in the google spreadsheet. Remember you can still work in Word and simple update your Google Doc.

This is team effort with many of the projects a collaboration among several persons, that is why there will be attention to this in the Incentives (Below)

Incentives:

Starting in July there will be weekly "winners". This will be based on improvement. In other words, we will normalize for people just starting versus those almost done. Of course social media will be used in the incentive structure. Weekly winners get to select topic for science hour of their choosing.
