Clam Bay
Start Time: 9:30 AM
Finish Time: 12:30 PM
Temp: Low to Mid 50's

Participants: Steven Roberts, Sammi Brombacher, L. Christine Savolainen, Jake Heare

We reached the site around 9:30 AM and began pulling the trays out of the net pen. We opened all trays, cleaned off contents with sea water, and Steven and Jake collected mortalities. Sammi and Christine counted con non specifics. Everyone then counted trays and accumulated data. Due to very low mortality, no samples were collected. To estimate size we imaged all the trays with all the oysters for image analysis at a later date. Trays had new labels placed in them and hobologger replace to collect data. Trays were then closed up and placed back into the net pens.

Shelton, WA
Oyster Bay (Totten Inlet)
Start Time: 3:00 PM
Finish Time: 6:30 PM
Temp: Mid 50's to Low 60's

Participants: Sammi Brombacher, L. Christine Savolainen, Jake Heare

We reached the site around 3 PM and began pulling trays out of the water. We discovered that one set of trays had been lost due to the caribiner malfuctioning and releasing the trays on bottom. Upon inspection of the other trays we found that we lost two Oyster Bay trays and one Fidalgo tray. Future plans are to take advantage of a daytime lowtide to collect the missing trays which are hopefully near the spot where they hung. We processed the trays similar to above without the help of Steven. There were a few notable incursions by small starfish into the trays which had a minor but apparent affect on mortality. Due to low mortality to no samples were taken at this time. Remaining trays had new labels and a fresh hobologger placed in them. Trays were closed up and replaced in the pens.
